Our Leadership
Bidwell Advanced Manufacturing LLC was founded by Owner and Chief Engineer Brian Bidwell.
After graduating with a bachelors in Mechanical engineering from RPI, Brian worked as a contractor for Pratt and Whitney in East Hartford, CT. Starting out doing DFM work for the new Geared Turbofan engine program, Brian was given the opportunity shortly after to become the CNC programmer for the Overhaul and Repair business unit. After guidance from some great mentors, Brian went on to be responsible for programming for the entire business unit, working on major rotating components with replacement values from $100,000-1,200,000. The value of the products necessitated a strong attention to detail that has carried thru the rest of his career and approach.
After several years at P&W, Brian moved on to Sterling Engineering Corporation in Barkhamsted, CT. There he continued working on large aerospace parts as well as power generation components up to 80" diameter and several tons. He joined Sterling for the ability to take a machining process from start to finish himself, running the VTLs and machining centers himself to prove out the process. Brian also began incorporating machine probe setup and inspection routines into his processes to improve the workflow of the shop. This was the genesis of a career long obsession with closed loop manufacturing.
In 2016 Brian joined Mazak Corporation as an Applications Engineer for the Northeast region based out of CT. After a few starting projects, Brian was dropped into the deep end after 3 months with the opportunity to work at IMTS 2016; spending 3 weeks in Chicago thru setup, the show, and teardown. Brian set the goal to become one of the top AEs after meeting so many amazing colleagues at the show. Working at Mazak was the biggest learning opportunity thus far in his career. He did everything from teaching classes, complete machine turnkeys, phone support, receiving and shipping machines, and travelling the country to support Mazak customers. In 2019 he was lucky enough to go to Japan to work in the brand new Inabe factory performing a test cut for a customer.
After 8 years at Mazak Brian had come to a crossroads in his career after achieving the goals he had previously set. It was decided that the time had come to try to branch out on his own and have more flexibility to work on innovative solutions for customers directly. Now at BAM we are able to support customers worldwide with different manufacturing challenges and have a lot of fun along the way!
